Universities often have a large numbers of disparate groups and individuals engaged in independent Outreach and Public Engagement efforts, with no organised way of sharing knowledge and connections between them, or of tracking their impact on the local community.
We were commissioned by the Faculty of Social Science to develop the Outreach and Engagement Activity Mapper; an easy-to-contribute-to database of activities that uses the information to describe the build up a network of links between activities, people and places. These can be used to help staff find out about existing activities, coordinate future work, and share skills and connections. The tool integrates with the Elsevier Pure system to enable details of activities to be shared across the systems.
